The purpose of this role is to facilitate opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to serve others through missions, ranging from individual and departmental projects locally in Upland and the surrounding area to week-long domestic mission trips during Spring Break, Summer, or other times during the year. Duties and Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible to: Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University’s Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University. Primary Oversight of Personnel: Student Leadership Team and Graduate Assistant (when applicable)Primary Oversight of Programming:Domestic Mission Trips (Spring Break/ Summer)Community Plunge. Outreach within Upland, Grant County and the surrounding region throughout the year, including ongoing service opportunities for students and employees to benefit of Upland, Grant County, and the region. Build and expand partnerships with Upland and Grant County-based ministries and service organizations. Partner with 1846 Enterprises to help faculty, staff, and students invest in the town of Upland. Strengthen initiatives and priorities of the Main Street Mile Initiative through service-based opportunities that engage Taylor constituents in the work of serving our neighbors. Recruit and then develop student leader program and manage that team of student leaders. Oversee budget and all logistics for the Office of Community Outreach. Serve on Taylor’s Service-Learning Committee and partner with academic faculty to spur service-learning opportunities across campus. Other duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in the areas of student development, campus ministries, community development, and/or local church ministry is beneficial
