Our Electric Utility Data Analysis Intern will support the discovery, aggregation, and analysis of data surrounding the design, construction, and maintenance of the electrical distribution system; this will include hands-on development of dashboards and coordination with staff and management who will use the data. They will split time between analysis of existing data and development of analysis tools. The salary range for this position is $17.33 - $23.40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Essential Functions: Work as an entry level data analyst reviewing data attached to project workflows for ongoing and planned construction projects. Develop dashboarding tools to help support individual and bulk project management Gathers, correlates, and analyzes specific data related to net metered customers to support future operations and programs. Performs a variety of tasks that will improve the individual's familiarization with the data, analysis methods, practices, and programs of a municipal utility. Supports operating and maintenance functions, such as troubleshooting, problem identification, and other problem resolution activities that require complex data analysis. Support and coordinate the development tracking tools for serialized electrical equipment in stock and in the field. Reviews assignments to assure efficiency and cost effectiveness. Support tools and methods to query and analyze data from Advanced Metering Infrastructure for the electric distribution system. Support the development of intuitive displays of energy flow to support operational decisions for electric customers. Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as assigned. Job Level and Management Expectations: There are no supervisor/manager expectations for this role. Qualifications: Education: Required: Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering, computer science, or data science program. Junior standing or higher working towards a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Preferred: Master's degree in engineering, data science, or other related area of study. Experience: Preferred: Course work in data analysis or data science and an interest in the utility industry is desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel (including Power. Query), Access, Power. BI and PowerPoint. Familiarity with query languages needed for information and data retrieval Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally. Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work well with others. Data Analysis experience. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Frequent: Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools. Frequent: Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools. Working Environment: Occasional: Exposure to routine office noise and equipment. Frequent: Exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements. Additional Working Demands / Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside with occasional outside work in inclement weather and around excessive noise from machines or equipment. Moderate physical activity required by moving, positioning and handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Work may include pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing and reaching to assist others in performing the job.
