Our Buffalo Office is seeking a Staff Biologist to assist Tetra Tech's environmental survey and monitoring teams. This person will be responsible for a wide variety of environmental field activities including but not limited to wetland delineations, threatened, and endangered species surveys, biological monitoring, as well as offering technical support to other projects performed by the office. This includes a combination of field and office work. Essential Job Functions:The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:Wetland and waterbody determination and delineations. Completion of detailed field notes, daily reports, forms, and checklists. Performance of threated and endangered species surveys for proposed infrastructure development. Monitoring wildlife during construction of facilities. Health and Safety assessments and audits of project sites and project teams. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications:A BS degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Resource Management, Geology, Geosciences or closely lated field. Some experience is preferred but not required. Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills are a must. A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions. Preferred Qualifications:40-hour OSHA - HAZWOPER training is also preferred but not required. Experience in environmental consulting or related experience preferred. Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations preferred. Additional qualifications such as Geologist in Training (GIT), OSHA 8-hour supervisory training, OSHA 30-hour general construction training, First Aid/ CPR/ SED training will be viewed favorably. Work Environment / Environmental Factors:Field work will be primarily outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions, and must wear the required PPE per assignment. Hours likely to exceed 40 hrs per week. Additional Information. Applicants should possess basic computer skills, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently. Computer Skills must include Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with field equipment such as Kestrels, Eos Arrow GPS units, and Tablets, preferred.
