Within UT MD Anderson, the Core Facilities Financial Analyst is responsible for managing post-award financial activities across multiple institutional core facilities. The Core Facilities Financial Analyst works closely with faculty, leadership, and administrative departments to ensure accurate financial management, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role contributes directly to the organization’s mission by supporting operational excellence and informed decision-making. The ideal candidate brings progressive experience in healthcare finance and research administration, with strong expertise in post-award grants management, financial analysis, and reporting. Preferred candidates demonstrate familiarity with UT MD Anderson systems and tools such as Smart View and OBIEE, along with advanced capabilities in data analysis, budgeting, and strategic financial planning. Minimum $32.93 – Midpoint $41.11 – Maximum $49.28 The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, standard business hours. Why Us? Responsibilities. Financial Management - Maintain knowledge of federal regulations such as Uniform Guidance and DFAR and sponsor financial guidelines - Review award documentation to extract demographic details and identify financial deliverables and compliance requirements - Manage post-award financial activities including budgeting, account oversight, billing, accounts receivable, reporting, compliance, and closeout - Monitor account activity to ensure expenditures align with approved scope and revisions - Update account details to ensure accuracy of financial and demographic information - Implement accounting transactions such as project overages, accelerated spending, or underspending using e. PA - Fs, n. SC - Ts, or journals - Complete timely project closeouts, coordinate with stakeholders, and manage residual balances or refunds. Reporting & Analysis - Ensure compliance with institutional and state procedures and internal control standards - Perform account reconciliations with varying levels of complexity, including analysis and synthesis of financial data - Extract, analyze, prepare, and submit financial reports with high accuracy and attention to detail - Maintain reporting schedules to meet internal and external deadlines - Evaluate historical and projected financial data to support operational and strategic decisions. Fiscal Policy & Internal Controls - Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal financial policies and procedures - Implement solutions and best practices to improve financial operations efficiency - Conduct periodic audits to maintain financial management standards - Monitor fund stewardship and escalate issues related to inappropriate or unallowable expenses - Identify patterns and trends of fiscal concern and provide insights to leadership - Maintain appropriate system access and data security within financial platforms. Training & Support - Participate in training related to federal regulations, research administration, and financial systems - Stay current with changes in policies and practices affecting research financial management. Other Duties - Support financial analysis for new and closing shared resources and services - Assist with updating financial components of business plans and pricing strategies annually - Foster effective collaboration with faculty, department chairs, leadership, and administrative teams - Perform additional duties as assigned to support Core Facilities operations EDUCATION - Required: Bachelor's Degree Business Administration or related business specialty. WORK EXPERIENCE - Required: 2 years Business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting. Preferred: Directly relevant experience in post-award grants management and/or core facilities financial management, and a progressive finance, business, and research administration experience in a healthcare environment, and an experience to include budgeting, financial reporting, cost-analysis, data analysis, benchmarking, strategic planning, query development and report design.
