Responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Life. Flight educational programs and academic initiatives focused exclusively on neonatal critical care patients. Manages all aspects of Life. Flight critical care education for neonatal populations and collaborates with NCHS Clinical Educators and Specialists to ensure standardization of pediatric clinical practice. Will collaborate with the Life. Flight Pediatric Clinical Educator to align all pediatric–neonatal education considerations for all Life. Flight staff including communication center. While this role does not hold primary responsibility for pediatric education, it may provide support or consultation as needed to promote operational continuity and patient safety. This is a hybrid role that integrates educational leadership with air and ground clinical obligations. The position is responsible for providing initial and ongoing education and clinical development for Life. Flight pediatric clinical staff, promoting an error-free care environment, serving as a research advocate, and ensuring the provision of high-quality pediatric nursing care. Delivers compassionate, patient- and family-centered care and upholds the quality standards of a Magnet-designated hospital and the Patient Bill of Rights. Practices under the supervision of the Life. Flight Director and Life. Flight Medical Directors. Job Specific Duties Consults with staff regarding individual learning needs and delivers competence-based program with a focus on improvement of skills and retention of knowledge. Mentors new and current employees to improve performance, clinical outcomes and identifies clinical strengths and opportunities. Partners with leaders to foster empowerment and open communication. Develops, oversees, and coordinates yearly educational plan for Life. Flight and Transfer Center. Identifies and recruits internal and external resources (nurse, physician, and other specialists) for educational activities. Assesses learning needs, develops, implements, and coordinates continuing education, competency sessions such as remediation, certification, mentoring, CAMTS, equipment, and supplies. Coordinates the onboarding of new hires, buddy assignments, standardization of the onboarding, and training of Life. Flight staff. Audits documentation, monitors skills clinical skills performance and clinical practice of Life. Flight Nurses, Paramedics, and EMTs. Mentors and engages staff in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes as demonstrated by higher CEI and SEI. Supports regulatory readiness through education to drive quality improvement. Provides leadership in system-wide implementation of quality improvements and innovations. Recognizes and communicates changes in clinical practice consistent with organizational standards. Analyzes data and outcomes in order to make recommendations on process improvements and changes to current practice to achieve desired outcomes using PI processes. Remains current and at the cutting edge of trends in pediatric/neonatal transport practice. Shares and disseminates information across the institution and the community. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and programs which assure the provision of quality nursing care based upon Evidence Based Practice (EBP). Minimum Job Requirements Master's Degree in Nursing RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (e. NLC) – maintain active and in good standing throughout employment American Heart Association (AHA) BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment American Heart Association (AHA) PALS required within 2 years of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program American Heart Association ACLS required within 1 year of hire Completion of Florida DOT AMCCC required within 1 year of hire National certification (CFRN, CCRN, CEN, CPEN, CNPT, CPN, CMTE, CTRN) required within 18 months of hire Maintain valid passport throughout employment for travel requirements Must maintain a weight limit no greater than 250 lbs. in uniform (flight suit, boots) throughout employment 4-7 years pediatric flight nursing, critical care and or emergency services nursing experience in a hospital setting Minimum of 2000 hours of Level II or Level III NICU experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possesses a passion for learning. Thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and strong time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Prior educational duties preferred. Works effectively in a collaborative environment.
