Microsoft has an immediate opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced government affairs professional to join the Customer Security and Trust Organization as Director, Cybersecurity Policy and Diplomacy Team (CPD). The team’s mission is to work with governments, the private sector, and civil society to advocate for and implement cybersecurity policies aimed at achieving a more secure cyberspace, both domestically and at the international level. The position is based at the company headquarters in Seattle or our offices in New York. Responsibilities. External Relationships: Build and sustain strategic partnerships with industry, civil society, and government stakeholders, with a focus on advancing AI cybersecurity priorities and aligning external engagement with CPD-wide objectives. Strategy & Programme Management: Lead cybersecurity policy initiatives across the CPD team, driving integrated strategies and supporting senior-level engagement and campaigns. External Communications: Collaborate with communications teams to proactively shape and promote Microsoft’s thought leadership on AI and cybersecurity, ensuring consistent, high-impact messaging across channels. Internal Collaboration: Champion priorities across government affairs teams, fostering cross-team alignment and partnerships, while operating with a collaborative, empathetic, and inclusive leadership approach. Qualifications. Required/minimum qualifications. Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 6 years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area. OR equivalent experience. Additional or preferred qualifications 5 years experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public, regulatory, and technology policy priorities . years experience influencing, developing, or supporting public policy or political campaigns. A collaborative and team-first mindset and a desire to learn and grow. A demonstrated ability to advance complex technical and policy concepts with diverse stakeholders at various levels. Demonstrated ability to drive campaigns to address complex challenges, individually and as part of a wider, matrixed team. The ability to forecast the impact of technology on policy. This includes knowledge and awareness of technology concepts, evolution, innovation, and internal and external technological advancements and trends. Government Affairs IC 5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $132,200 - $258,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,800 - $278,900 per year.
