The Engineering Student Center within the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering (CoE) seeks a dynamic professional to join our team as a Student Engagement and Scholars Program Coordinator. The position is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of programming and services that foster student success and student engagement in the Engineering Student Scholars Program. The Student Engagement and Scholars Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting students in the program and helping them make meaningful connections to the UW-Madison College of Engineering. In partnership with academic advisors, this position will serve as an integral support to scholars throughout their undergraduate careers, through one-on-one advising. This position will also coordinate the Engineering Student Scholars Program’s Leadership Board and Peer Mentoring Program, develop and implement programs and services that support first generation college students, including the Wisconsin Engineering Bridge (WEB) Program, support prospective and admitted student events and programs, assist in the coordination of first-year student programming, and work closely with other staff members to coordinate large-scale events and programs. The Engineering Student Center is part of COE's academic affairs unit, a diverse and vibrant organization that also includes academic advising, career services, undergraduate learning center, scholarships and wellness. The Engineering Student Center brings together outreach, precollege, college/undergraduate scholarship programs, engineering student organizations, and first-year student engagement initiatives. By offering various programs and services, the Engineering Student Center fosters a campus environment that is both welcoming and supportive. Remote work may be available up to one day after a one-year training period has been completed. This position is required to occasionally support programming during evenings and weekends. Key Job Responsibilities:Serves as a subject matter expert regarding student affairs to internal and external stakeholders. Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns. Generates and analyzes reports of curricular and unit outcomes. Organizes student-focused programming and resources to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives. Creates and maintains schedules, logistics, and resources for one or multiple student affairs programs, activities, and/or services. Works to support the idea of engineering for all in all Academic Affairs practices and procedures; supports and enhances a climate of inclusive excellence for students and colleagues. Assist in hiring, training, and supervision of student employees. Department:College of Engineering, Student Engagement. Compensation:The starting salary for the position is $57,000 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications). Required Qualifications:At least two years of professional experience post-bachelor’s degree in the following areas:Experience helping students achieve personal and academic success in higher education. Experience in developing student-centered programs and services. Experience coordinating large-scale events and programs. Demonstrated experience engaging with and supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds. Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively?Preferred Qualifications:Advising experience in higher education. Experience working with students interested in pursuing STEM fields. Experience presenting and delivering information to a wide variety of audiences. Experience monitoring and evaluating program success. Proficient use of Microsoft tools, especially Word and Excel. Demonstrated adaptability, with the ability to manage uncertainty and remain flexible in a dynamic and evolving environment. Experience working on a team to create, implement or deliver projects or programming. Education:Required: Bachelor's degree with area of focus in Higher Education Administration, or Student Affairs, or Counseling, or Sociology, or Psychology, or related field. Preferred: Master’s degree with area of focus in Higher Education Administration, or Student Affairs, or Counseling, or Sociology, or Psychology, or related field.
