Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, the Assistant Director of Fitness & Rec Programs is responsible for direct oversight of the Campus Recreation sports, fitness and wellness programs & activities administered by the department. Essential Duties Summary In collaboration with the Associate Director, develop, implement, and assess diverse and inclusive sports and fitness programming for the Campus Recreation department. Oversight includes group fitness, wellness programs and events, personal training, and recreational sports programs. Assists with the preparation, plans, and projections of expenditures for all supervised area budgets. Collaborates with internal and external entities (alumni/community) to provide fitness & wellness-based programming to a variety of users. Provides oversight for risk management within program areas. Performs other responsibilities as required. % FTE 1.0 Hiring Range $50,035.36 - $63,795.08 Education Bachelor’s degree. Required Licensing/ Certification Nationally Certified Personal Trainer and/or Group Fitness Certification American Red Cross CPR/ AED Certified Instructor (or able to obtain within 60 days) Preferred Personal Trainer or Group Fitness certification from a nationally accredited association Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Requires full/complete knowledge in multiple disciplines and serves as an ultimate subject matter expert in at least one discipline or function. Demonstrates full command of technical and functional principles, procedures, and subject matter in multiple disciplines to handle any situation and lead or train others. Requires the ability to lead the development or modification of work procedures across multiple disciplines. Safety guidelines. Skill in: Problem-solving and decision-making. Work independently. Communicate effectively. Work Experience Four (4) years of directly related Campus Recreation job experience. At least two (2) years of experience in leadership/management. Working/ Environmental Conditions Prolonged standing and/or walking. Handling moderate weight objects. Using or carrying equipment. Stoop, bend, or lift.
