The Student Access and Success Department is currently seeking a Temporary Residential Summer Counselor to join their team of professionals. This position requires candidates to live on campus in campus housing Sunday through Friday weekly for the duration of the program. No Exceptions. Duties include:Directly responsible for students whose graders vary between 6th ' 11th grade to assist them in developing the social, emotional and academic skills necessary to ensure high school graduation and future college success. Create PowerPoints and present vary college prep workshop to students. Act as mentors, academic tutors, and role models. Enforce classroom, residence hall, and program rules. Organize activities throughout the day. Supervise at all meals and most activities. Help move supplies from office to residence hall and back at end of summer program; could involve lifting up to 20 lbs. Actively work with additional counselors to implement, supervise, and support of youth in all phases of programming activities. Always supervise and maintain order among students. Attend all staff meetings. Attend all field trips as assigned. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications. Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or related field and experience working with children and teenagers OR equivalent education and/or experience. Desired Qualifications. Applicants have some experience working with low-income and/or first-generation students. Experience working with students within 6th ' 12th grade .0 college credits (minimum)Leadership abilities and interpersonal communication skills. Tutoring abilities in subject areas such as math and/or English. Experience with youth programs and summer camps. Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of low income and the targeted youth population. Demonstrates the ability to work in a team setting. Experience with conflict resolution. Previous TRIO Program and Pre-College Programs (e.g. Upward Bound) experience is a plus. Job Category. Temporary. Temporary Disclosure.
