Assists physicians with patient care and follow-up in a clinic setting. Duties include, but are not limited to, interviewing patients, obtaining vital signs, preparing patients and assisting physicians with patient exams and/or treatment. Additional responsibilities include charting and clerical work as necessary to oversee phone prescriptions and refills to pharmacies. The LVN also performs triage with patient phone calls to identify emergent and non-emergent situations. Works under the direction of a Team Lead, Coordinator, Practice Manager and Provider. Provides a variety of direct patient care, technical and clinical functions for the patient, utilizing nursing processes and functions within the URPG policy and procedure. Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. For LVN position, graduate of an accredited LVN school of nursing required. For Medical Assistant position, graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Licenses and Certifications As LVN, must be licensed with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas. As Medical Assistant, certification as Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred or successfully complete certification within 6 months of hireCPR Certification. Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities. Ability to deal with staff, physicians, visitors, vendors, patients and the public in a tactful and pleasant manner. Must work harmoniously in a team setting. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Must be organized, a self-starter and must have an eye for detail and accuracy. Ability to understand, apply and carry out written or verbal orders. Ability to recognize problems and respond appropriately. Uses independent judgment and strong critical thinking skills Must have good working knowledge of computer systems with emphasis on Word, Excel, billing systems and other programs related to the position. Ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax and copy machines.
