Equipment Operator I - Street Sweeper Operations. About the Job: As an Equipment Operator I, you will perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks such as operating sweeper, front end loader, backhoe, utility truck with trailer, and tankers to support ongoing construction projects for the City's Public Works Department. Work Schedule: 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Either Monday -Thursday or Tuesday- Friday depending on crew assignment after hire. This position requires that you are available for emergency callout. As an Equipment Operator I with the Street Sweeper division, you will:Operate equipment such as a sweeper, front end loader, backhoe, utility truck with trailer, and tankers. Operate a single/tandem axle dump truck with plow and sander during snow removal operations. Transport material and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites. Safely use, clean, service, and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and tools. Perform manual labor such as raking/shoveling dirt and asphalt, removing debris, and shoveling snow. Safely operate hand and power tools and construction and maintenance equipment such as compactors, front-end loaders, walk behind saws and jack hammers. Perform grounds maintenance and clean up. Assist other divisions within the Public Works departments as business needs permit. Other duties as assigned.
