Principle duties consists of assisting physicians in scrubbing, monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiological data during coronary diagnostic and coronary interventional procedures These studies involve operation of radiographic imaging equipment and automatic high-pressure contrast media injections system. Principle duties consists of assisting physicians in scrubbing, monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiological data during radiology diagnostic examination and interventional radiology procedures. These studies involve operation of radiographic imaging equipment and automatic high-pressure contrast media injections system. This position requires being on call for emergency cases such as STEMI and Stroke patients. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist physicians with scrubbing, monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiologic data during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Operates imaging system in all modalities, including x-ray table and all features of computerized analysis software system. Operates physiologic monitoring system understanding cardiac rhythms and hemodynamics. Assists the physician during the insertion of guidewires, catheters, angioplasty, stent placement, coils and other devices during the procedure. Demonstrates knowledge and clinical expertise in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures under fluoroscopy, and treatments prescribed by a physician. Performs emergency duties, including CPR, assisting with temporary pacemaker placement, peri-cardialcentesis and insertion of aortic balloon pump. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity. Maintains accurate reports, records, and statistics. Connects EKG, pulse oximeter, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors to patient. Shaves and preps puncture site, assists with patient transport to/from procedural suite, and sets-up procedure tray. Inventories and maintains supplies and maintains patient images library. Tests, performs quality control procedure on imaging equipment and maintains x-ray lead aprons, maintains radiological badges, and procures and posts monthly radiation reports. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy needs (confidentiality). Acts as patient advocate. JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum Education (Indicate minimum education or degree required.)Completion of two (2) year approved Radiologic Technician program. Preferred Education (Indicate preferred education or degree required.)Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate minimum years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job.)Minimum two (2) years' experience in a diagnostic and interventional procedural Lab. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be able to work in a union environment.
