West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Student Affairs invites applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Student Engagement. The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) supports the co-curricular and out-of-the-classroom experiences of West Chester University students and aspires to support a campus community where students build healthy personal and professional connections, develop a sense of belonging, and engage thoughtfully with others. The Office of Student Engagement is the official umbrella office of all recognized undergraduate student organizations and provides WCU students with transformative learning opportunities that prepare them to be active global citizens through involvement in student organizations, intentional programming, and interpersonal interactions. Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement, the Assistant Director provides oversight of student organization management and event planning; serves as the primary contact for student organizations; and collaborates with key partners to develop new opportunities for student engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience supervising, training, and developing student staff and collaborating with diverse campus partners; excellent written communication and presentation skills; and experience planning, implementing and supervising programs and large-scale campus events. Responsibilities include: Assist organizations with the student event management process Implement event management process improvements. Co-advise Leadership Empowerment and Development (LEAD) and the Student Government Association. Ensure student organization compliance with University policies and procedures. Support organizations to navigate the University Student Conduct process. Coordinate the annual student organization registration process. Coordinate the new student organization recognition process. Coordinate student organization appreciation programs Oversee the daily operations of student organization records and communication. Act as campus administrator for WCU’s campus engagement platform, Ram. Connect. Respond to general email inquiries for the department Recruit, onboard and support student organization faculty and staff advisors Support student organization conflicts and help students to navigate campus resources Execute leadership development programs Plan and execute fall and spring involvement fairs. Coordinate presentations highlighting Student Engagement resources for prospective students and their family members. Plan and implement late-night and weekend programming. Develop and lead intentional programmatic engagement opportunities highlighting student organization categories. Market programs and events through various platforms including social media. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degreeOne year of professional higher education experience or two years of graduate student affairs experience Experience executing campus programming. Experience with online student organization management software
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, or related field. Experience supervising graduate and undergraduate student staff. Experience planning, implementing and supervising programs and large-scale campus events Experience marketing programs and events through various platforms. Experience in the assessment of learning Experience with Campus. Groups
