This position performs basic accounting, clerical work, and customer service tasks. This position is a front facing position geared to provide the best utility billing customer service experience possible. In many respects, our staff are the face of the City, so it is imperative that excellent customer service and assistance is delivered as we are here to serve our community and residents with answers to their questions and concerns. The City of Auburn is seeking a candidate who:Has excellent time management, Prioritizes workloads Has office experience in a fast paced environment. WORK SCHEDULE The City's office hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch. OUR CITY - The City of Auburn is home to over 80,000 residents and encompasses over 29.8 square miles of land, two rivers, and is part of two counties - King and Pierce. The City operates as a Strong-Mayor form of Mayor-Council government, with a City Council of seven at-large members. OUR FINANCE DEPARTMENT - The Finance Department consists of 25 employees total, with responsibilities ranging from operational accounting, budgeting, and utility billing. This position reports to the Utility Billing Supervisor and/or Manager.
Primary Duties
In this role, you will:Explain special billing and service programs to customer (e.g., Winter Averaging, low-income utility assistance, and solid waste/recycling programs). May determine probability of eligibility based on specific written guidelines and refer customer to appropriate assistance agencies. Perform record maintenance on special billing programs/accounts, with guidance by supervisor. Update and maintain accurate account information in the customer information system by inputting changes, such as name and address changes, billing adjustments, and service disconnections. Performs cashiering duties for utility payments, miscellaneous AR, including police seizure funds; posts transactions and documents, including adjusting journal entries. Open and close accounts for customers of one or more City utilities; request, verify and/or change information for proper billing. Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:Graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting, or equivalent. AND - Two years closely related work experience. O - Ra combination of education, experience, and training that would indicate the ability to successfully accomplish the primary functions listed above. WE WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU HAD...
