As an auditor in charge, you will plan and conduct independent compliance, operations, and performance audits of Wyoming State and Local Governments. The Senior Auditor will examine multiple and diverse accounting systems as well as operating policies and procedures to protect public funds in compliance with federal, state, and local laws as well as rules and regulations. Auditors will learn and conduct work in accordance with nationally recognized auditing standards. They will be required by those standards to have annual continuing education and must be able to testify under oath in a judicial-type environment to defend their work. Analyze and reconcile financial information from diverse accounting systems with various financial reports and other supporting data sources. Using risk assessment, internal control evaluation, fraud discussions, other evaluation tools, and statutes, engage the auditee and plan the overall strategy for the expected objectives, scope, and conduct of the audit. Conduct fieldwork in accordance with applicable Government Auditing Standards or AICPA standards based on an appropriately written audit program. Complete fieldwork and analysis, conduct a detailed review, prepare work papers for supervisory and managerial review, prepare findings and conclusions for draft reports, and conduct the exit conference. Receive formal training in accordance with General Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS). Provide training to current and new employees through classroom or on-the-job training, as well as provide training to auditees. Perform monitoring of public funds, review reports to ensure accurate accounting and reporting, and ensure compliance with Statutes and rules by public entities. Give deposition or provide testimony in front of a board, local, state, or federal court. Perform work necessary to assist in fraud investigations. Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES: No license is required. CPA, CISA, CIA, or CFE preferred. Prior auditing experience will be selected over accounting experience. - - Must have a valid driver's license. KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Wyoming Constitution and State of Wyoming Policies. Knowledge of Wyoming Statutes and application of statutes. Knowledge of Federal Laws, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of Accounting and Auditing Standards. Knowledge and conceptual understanding of internal controls, be able to identify weaknesses and make recommendations. Knowledge of organizational structures/best practices. Knowledge of complex spreadsheets/databases and good computer skills. Must have good leadership and teamwork skills as well as good customer service. Must have good personal, written and verbal communication skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Accounting or Finance) Experience:0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Auditing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Auditor II OR Education & Experience Substitution:4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Auditing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Auditor II Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:None
