Park Maintenance Workers perform a variety of structural and grounds maintenance/repair work for County parks and facilities. Duties include performing minor repairs and improvements, maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds (lawns, shrubs, trees, and vegetation) and facility structures (rest rooms, offices, parking lots, benches, irrigation systems, and other park and recreational facilities). The ideal candidate will possess:Formal training and or education in irrigation repair and troubleshooting, lawn and tree care and playground maintenance. Strong mechanical skills in small equipment operation, including tractors, lawn mowers, and other related power equipment. Skills in performing general maintenance repairs including carpentry, plumbing and chainsaw use, and janitorial duties. Experience providing excellent customer service to diverse populations The ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds. Hiring Process and Timeline: The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.i. Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening. ii. Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.iii. Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date. If you are not selected for this interview process, you may have the opportunity to compete for future vacancies. Minimum Qualifications. One (1) year of full-time experience performing a variety of semi-skilled structural and grounds maintenance work, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical repairs, and gardening, for an organization or agency. May be subject to occasional overtime and weekend work. May be subject to driving cars, trucks, tractors, and other equipment. May be subject to working around equipment and machinery, walking on uneven ground, and working at heights. May be subject to exposure to excessive noise, extremes in temperature, humidity or wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals, and require the use of special visual or auditory protective equipment. May be subject to working with biohazards. Evaluation. The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based upon scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
