We are seeking a motivated Automation Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team supporting automation and manufacturing projects in the automotive industry. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers looking to develop practical experience in electrical hardware design. The Automation Electrical Design Engineer will work under the guidance of senior engineers and alongside cross-functional project teams to develop electrical design packages for automated equipment and machinery. This role involves creating electrical schematics, assisting with system design, and supporting installation and commissioning activities to ensure projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with customer standards. Key Responsibilities. Create electrical drawing packages for automated equipment and machinery using customer standards and internal templates. Assist in designing control systems using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, and electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics. Ensure hardware designs are complete and accurate prior to release for manufacturing, helping reduce debugging during build and commissioning phases. Produce detailed design documentation including calculations, layouts, reports, and labeling packages. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) in accordance with customer specifications. Learn and apply automotive customer standards such as Volkswagen VASS, BMW TMO, and Mercedes-Benz Integra. Support installation, integration, and commissioning activities during project implementation. Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, and other team members to maintain project progress. Assist commissioning engineers and electricians in understanding hardware designs and documentation. Update electrical drawings to reflect as-built conditions and system modifications. Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related electrical discipline (Tech degree with work experience will be considered)Basic understanding of electrical design standards and safety codes. Working knowledge of CAD software. Familiarity with TCP/ IP and industrial PC networking fundamentals. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)Willingness to travel approximately 20% to customer locations and job sites. Proficiency in English both written and verbal. Experience with EPLAN - Exposure to the automotive manufacturing industry. Strong communication and organizational skills. Detail-oriented with strong documentation practices. Ability to adapt to design changes and work in a collaborative team environment. Experience interpreting or drafting low-voltage power distribution and PLC control system designs. Understanding of core electrical engineering principles related to automation systems. Familiarity with automotive standards such as Volkswagen VASS, BMW TMO, or Mercedes-Benz Integra.
