Oakland University is seeking applicants for the part-time position of Campus Safety Officer. This position reports directly to the Chief of Police. Interested applicants should enjoy working with young adults and understand the uniqueness of the college campus community environment. The shifts vary but will normally range in time from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with possible weekend availability. Shift hours assigned may vary. This position is located in our new West Campus in Auburn Hills, MI. The Safety Officer is responsible for general security, safety and property protection duties for Oakland University’s West Campus located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Job Duties Patrols assigned area on foot, in assigned motor vehicle, or other specialized vehicle to ensure personal, building, and equipment security . Examines doors, windows and gates to ensure security; monitors closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities. Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering smoking or carrying forbidden articles. Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff and faculty as necessary; provides other public assistance such as lockout services, jump-starts and routine information. Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for any disruptions or unlawful activities. Opening and securing the facility as needed.
