Visiting Instructor of Public Health (2 positions)

The College of Charleston invites qualified applicants for two full-time visiting instructor positions within the Department of Public Health Sciences and Administration beginning in August 2026. The successful candidate will join an active department that offers undergraduate degrees in public health (both B. S. and B. A.) and health services administration and management (B. S.) within the expanding School of Health Sciences. We currently have 10 full-time teacher-scholars that serve approximately 400 undergraduate majors. We are committed to preparing and equipping the next generation of health professionals and are seeking applicants who share our mission and want to engage with undergraduate students in and outside the classroom through dynamic teaching, professional advising, and mentorship. Located in the heart of historic Charleston, South Carolina, the College of Charleston is a nationally recognized public university. The responsibilities of a visiting instructor include 1) providing high-quality instruction in four course sections per semester within the public health program, 2) offering professional (non-academic) mentoring for majors, 3) actively participating in the development and advancement of curriculum and accreditation, 4) working collaboratively within the program and department to help meet stated goals and objectives, and 5) committing to a liberal arts and sciences undergraduate education. At minimum, applicants must possess a master’s degree in public health or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution prior to the August 16, 2026 start date. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate students effectively and a strong commitment to teaching excellence. We seek individuals whose teaching and/or professional experiences support instruction across a broad range of courses within the public health curriculum; areas of expertise are open. Candidates with diverse and relevant educational and professional experiences are encouraged to apply.
