This advisory level position applies geographic basin expertise and interprets geological, geophysical or petrophysical data in order to generate and develop leads into exploration prospects. Job Duties & Responsibilities Leads interpretations of geological, geophysical, or petrophysical information from sources such as survey data, seismic reflection data, well logs, bore holes or aerial photos Conducts geological, geophysical, or petrophysical field studies or surveys, sample collection or drilling and testing programs Advises the preparation of geological maps, cross-section diagrams, charts, or reports using results of fieldwork or laboratory research Locates, estimates, and predicts oil and natural gas fields using integrated analysis of data and information Applies advanced geological, geophysical, or petrophysical theories, applications and models to explain, predict and interpret data Advises management and/or Business Unit teams based on complete integration of data or generated seismic inversion results (both deterministic and stochastic), project economics and risk analysis Advises on technical issues across multiple disciplines; mentors lower level staff in areas of expertise Leads efforts to develop optimization strategies or new technologies to maximize the production of oil and gas Leads cost-cutting efforts, offering innovative and value-added solutions to drive costs down while maximizing production of oil and gas Participates in local and national Geological societies Publishes and presents research and publications to advance the industry Performs other duties as assigned Job Specific Skills Expert knowledge of logging tools, measurement and quality control of logging jobs Expert knowledge of field operations, including logging units, drilling rigs and directional framework and their relationship to basin architecture Expert knowledge and familiarity with geologic database and mapping software Expert utilization and application of laboratory analysis of samples, side wall cores and whole cores Expert utilization and application of qualitative 2 D and 3 D seismic interpretation and seismic acquisition Advanced knowledge of project management principles and methodologies Advanced knowledge of lease acquisitions, division of interest and separation of surface and subsurface rights Education Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics or related field (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Engineering, Math, Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions) Preferred: Master’s degree - from accredited university - Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics or related field (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Engineering, Math, Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions) Experience Minimum: 12 years related work experience
