Position description The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical (HSCP) series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in Interventional Cardiology with a focus on structural heart disease. The selected candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative, and diverse academic cardiology division with established expertise in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, advanced cardiovascular imaging, heart failure, electrophysiology, and general cardiology. This position offers the opportunity to participate in a growing, multidisciplinary structural heart program within a major academic medical center and regional referral hub. The successful applicant will be expected to provide outstanding inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, participate in interventional and structural heart procedures, and contribute to the continued growth and clinical excellence of the structural heart program. Faculty in the Clinical X series is expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service. The selected candidate will participate in the education of medical students, residents, cardiology fellows, and advanced trainees within the division’s robust academic programs. Interest in clinical research, quality improvement, innovation, and program development is desirable. Clinical responsibilities will include participation in the interventional cardiology call schedule, inpatient consultative and teaching services, and ambulatory clinic sessions supporting both general interventional cardiology and the expanding structural heart disease program. Timely completion of clinical documentation and thoughtful participation in multidisciplinary heart team discussions are expected. D., M. D./ PhD., D. O. or equivalent degree - Board certification/eligibility in specialty - Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of California - ACGME accredited fellowship or equivalent experience - Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in cardiovascular disease and Interventional Cardiology and eligible for medical licensure in California. Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position) Fellowship training and demonstrated clinical experience in structural heart disease are strongly preferred. Candidates with at least two years of post-training clinical experience and a track record of progressive independence in structural heart interventions are especially encouraged to apply. Particular interest will be given to applicants with meaningful experience in contemporary structural heart evaluation, procedural planning, and longitudinal care, including transcatheter valve therapies, left atrial appendage occlusion, paravalvular leak closure, and septal closure procedures. Board certification in echocardiography and/or cardiac CT is welcome but not required; however, substantial experience interpreting echocardiography and cardiac CT in the care of structural heart patients is highly desirable.
