Head Girls Swim Coach. Position: Head Girls Swim Coach. Reports To: Athletic Director. Stipend Category: I (Head Girls Swim Coach; see contract Appendix II for placement)Summary and Purpose: Support student-athlete development in Girls Swim and assisting the Richards Athletic Departmentmission and vision statement. Responsibilities:- Excels at teaching swimming fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship.- Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, travel, and related events.- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled practices, contests (home and away), and team functions.- Ability to effectively plan practices, manage meets, and conduct skill instruction.- Monitor and enforce all eligibility, safety, and conduct requirements as established by IHSA, the school, and district policies.- Chaperone and supervise athletes at all swimming events (including practices, meets, community gatherings, etc.), maintaining discipline and promoting a positive team environment.- Maintain a safe environment and report injuries promptly to appropriate staff.- Complete required paperwork, attendance logs, and communicate with parents and administration as needed.- Attend coach meetings and required professional development as assigned by the athletic department. Additional Expectations:- Availability to work in the off season- Manage equipment, program needs, set-up, and breakdown for practices and meets.- Attend community events (such as parades, fundraisers, etc.)- Foster academic achievement, positive citizenship, and school spirit among student-athletes.- Complete required first aid, CPR, and district coaching certifications as required by ISBE/ IHSA and adhere to all training expectations. Qualifications:- ISBE, ASEP, or NFHS certification required- Previous high school swim coaching experience preferred. Compensation and Benefits for External Applicants:Individuals hired from outside CHSD 218 as seasonal coaches or activity sponsors receive onlythe contractual stipend for the assignment. Board-provided employee benefits (including health,dental, life insurance, leave, and participation in district retirement plans) are not available toexternal hires in these roles. For benefit eligibility, an individual must be a contracted districtemployee.
