The Clark County Department of Aviation (DOA) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Automotive and Equipment Technician I/ II position. This position works in conjunction with various DOA divisions, along with other technicians and specialists, to ensure that support vehicles and equipment continue to operate smoothly and efficiently for all airport activities. This position maintains, repairs, and overhauls automobiles, heavy and light truck and other vehicles, construction equipment, small gasoline engines, and stationary equipment. In addition, this position operates a variety of hand, power, and shop tools. Automotive and Equipment Technician II: $28.15 - $41.52 Hourly. The Automotive and Equipment Technician I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Automotive and Equipment Technician II. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Employee Services. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Automotive and Equipment Technician I - Equivalent to graduation from high school AND three (3) years of full-time experience in automotive equipment services and repair work. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the automotive trade may be substituted for the three (3) years of required experience. Automotive and Equipment Technician II - In addition to the above: Minimum of one (1) year of journey-level experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or heavy construction equipment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the apprenticeship program on a year for year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable.
