The purpose of this position is to maintain an awareness of community needs and assists in planning and implementing community action activities and other special projects. Employees in this position maintain a roster of resource agencies and organizations within the community, informs residents of these agencies and services and performs other duties to involve community personnel and places of business to alleviate personal and community problems. Preserves work records and makes reports to professional staff members indicative of changes in the status of the community and community residents. Becomes familiar with requirements of all programs offered by JEFFCAP to qualify clients who seek services. Sets up appointments with clients applying for various programs offered. Conducts interviews with clients to determine their needs. Reviews JEFFCAP offerings to determine what help is immediately available and processes accordingly. Prepares monthly report of activity undertake and activities completed. Oversees community activities that are held at the center. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference. Note: Applicants proficient in English and Spanish (i.e., fluent in both languages) are encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination Meets one of the following three options:I. Possession of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral science. ORII. Possession of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral science; plus, at least two (2) years of work experience providing guidance or counseling to families/individuals seeking assistance from government-funded community services programs. ORIII. Possession of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field of study; plus, at least three (3) years of work experience providing guidance or counseling to families/individuals seeking assistance from government-funded community services programs.”Preferred: proficiency in English and Spanish (i.e., fluent in both languages).
