Impact Performs complex NGS library preparation, sequencing, and statistical analysis. Performs pre-analytical sample handling, DNA extraction, and quantification. Conducts heavy investigative troubleshooting, specifically focusing on chemically based reactions of DNA troubleshooting, assay performance, and equipment. Performs regular maintenance, QA/ QC upkeep, calibration, and general upkeep of laboratory equipment in compliance with CLIA/ CAP standards. Facilitates direct communication with vendors for equipment maintenance, calibration, and external troubleshooting. Authors, reviews, and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), worksheets, and related technical documentation. Participates in the validation of laboratory processes, SOPs, and the establishment of QC metrics for Laboratory Developed Tests (LD - Ts). Trains additional staff and team members in laboratory safety, protocols, and standard operating procedures. Participates actively in QA/ QC, safety, and CLIA/ CAP compliance initiatives to maintain the highest clinical standards. Exhibits a high level of initiative, self-motivation, and adaptability to solve problems independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team. Participates in laboratory meetings and ensures meeting minutes are accurately maintained. Serves as an additional responder to off-hour onsite emergent events, requiring general proximity to the laboratory location. Completes tasks as assigned to support workflow optimization and general laboratory function. Qualifications Required Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a closely related biological discipline. Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a molecular, clinical, genetic, or highly similar laboratory environment. Demonstrated experience in an accredited clinical laboratory environment (e.g., CLIA, CAP, or NYS certified). Essential hands-on experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows. Proven experience with HIPAA compliance and the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI). Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to collaborate across teams and explain technical information clearly. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to investigative troubleshooting. Preferred ASCP certification in Molecular Biology (MB), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Specialist in Molecular Biology (SMB)—or a pending testing appointment. Specific experience with Methyl-Seq workflows. Comfortable working and thriving within a growing, fast-paced environment with a “start-up” culture.
