Reporting to the Executive Director of the Career Center, the Director position holds the major responsibility of leading the UGA Mentor Program, which connects students to UGA alumni and friends/affiliates of the university. The Director supervises a team of coordinators, with additional program support provided by graduate assistants, undergraduate student assistants, and student ambassadors. The position develops an annual strategic plan that includes orientations, marketing and communication, outreach, education, and program assessment. As a mentoring advocate, this individual is familiar with all campus mentorship programs and facilitates meetings for and shares resources with UGA campus partners. The Director plays a leading role at the institutional level to build community among mentoring scholars and practitioners with the mission to foster a culture of mentoring across the University. The Director also serves as a vital leadership team member on the Career Center team, innovating and designing initiatives to better support the career development of students and contributing in significant ways on Career Center committees. The position advances the mission of the Division by developing partnerships to increase alumni engagement and philanthropy goals. Duties/ Responsibilities Duties/ Responsibilities Provide Enterprise-Level Strategic Leadership for University-Wide Mentoring Set and lead a long-term, multi-year strategic vision for mentoring as a core component of the university’s career development, alumni engagement, and advancement strategy. Lead university-wide initiatives to expand mentoring access, with a strong focus on increasing the number of students participating in the program. Serve as the institution’s senior authority on mentoring, establishing university-wide standards, policies, and scalable frameworks adopted across all schools, colleges, and campuses. Advise senior university leadership (e.g., President’s Office, Vice Presidents, Deans) on mentoring strategy, engagement models, and alignment with institutional priorities. Develop and manage high-level partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including Development & Alumni Relations, academic leadership, employer partners, and governing and volunteer boards. Percentage of time 30 Duties/ Responsibilities Oversee Program Expansion and Effectiveness Establish a long-term, data-driven strategy to: Significantly increase the number of students participating in the Mentor Program. Expand the career development component within the program. Ensure effectiveness in program delivery, including virtual engagement, cohort-based mentoring, and integration with career development initiatives across campus. Ensure operational alignment across decentralized units, reducing duplication and increasing efficiency across mentoring-related efforts on campus. Design and execute mentor stewardship strategies and a stewardship matrix to steward mentors. Represent the university at national and international levels, positioning UGA as a leader in mentoring innovation and student engagement. Represent the UGA Mentor Program/ Career Center on committees across campus. Percentage of time 30 Duties/ Responsibilities Provide Executive Oversight of Data, Assessment, and Technology Strategy Establish a comprehensive data strategy to measure mentoring outcomes, student success indicators, alumni engagement, and return on investment. Oversee development of dashboards, reports, and executive briefings for senior leadership, boards, and external stakeholders. Ensure data integrity, compliance, and alignment with institutional research and advancement systems. Leverage data insights to inform strategic decisions, resource allocation, and continuous program improvement. Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and platforms to enhance program reach, engagement, and user experience. Collaborate with Advancement Services to add interactions, attributes, and relationships in the Giving and Alumni Information Link (GAIL) database to improve our alumni relations and development efforts. Build organizational capacity to support long-term program growth and sustainability. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration within the team and across campus partners. Develop training and professional development frameworks for staff and campus stakeholders engaged in mentoring.
