Under the direction of the Archeology Laboratory Manager, this position performs highly complex (senior level) archeological collections management and field work. Responsible for organizing and maintaining collections and geospatial databases, cataloging artifacts, conducting artifact and data analyses, contributing to the planning and execution of archeological investigations, and preparing technical reports that meet all applicable federal and state regulatory standards. Collaborates with Interpretive Services staff to develop or expand interpretive programs and exhibits. Develops and presents outreach programs. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulation and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Anthropology, Archeology, or closely related field. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in archeological collections processing work, analysis, and/or field investigations. Licensure:Applicant must possess or be able to possessor be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class “C” Texas driver’s license. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Knowledge of archeological theory and methods;Knowledge of archeological artifact processing standards;Knowledge of archeological field methods;Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and GIS;Skill in archeological laboratory procedures and analyses;Skill in completing analyses and studies using GIS maps and databases;Skill in archeological field techniques;Skill in recording archeological field data with GPS technology;Skill in effective verbal and written communication;Skill in working as a member of a team, while establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;Ability to organize large amounts of data;Ability to walk long distances and perform physically demanding tasks in varying environments and conditions (steep terrain, heat, cold, etc.);Ability to accurately follow instructions and meet deadlines;Ability to adapt successfully and quickly to change and deliver quality results in a timely manner;Ability to plan, organize and work independently, as well as within a team environment;Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program. WORKING CONDITIONS - Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday;Required to work overtime as necessary;Required to travel 30% with overnight stays;Required to operate a State vehicle;Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
