We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Pre-Nursing Microbiology Lecture and Laboratory courses. The successful candidate will provide engaging, student-centered instruction designed to prepare pre-nursing students for academic success, clinical application, and strong performance on the TEAS Science examination. Qualified applicants, transcripts, and materials will be reviewed and processed in preparation for assignment-based student enrollment needs for upcoming terms. Select adjuncts from the pool are contracted term-by-term based on course/section need and availability. All courses are on-ground modality. Some courses may be scheduled for evening hours. Job Description. Primary Teaching Responsibilities. Instructors will be responsible for teaching pre-nursing microbiology courses: BIO-245 Microbiology BIO-245 L Microbiology Lab. Instructors are required and agree to:Teach assigned courses as contracted. Provide all necessary information and teach materials as provided on the course syllabus. Submit final grades within three (3) days after the end of the term. Deliver in a professional manner course content for any assigned course(s) as specified by the master syllabus and/or as directed by the appropriate academic school dean, director, or chair. Meet all scheduled class meetings for the assigned period. Be available to students before and after class for individual consultation. Cooperate in the dissemination of information to students. Abide by and uphold University policies and core values. Carry out instructor duties and responsibilities as provided on the website, handbook(s), and policies. Representative Laboratory Experiences. Proper use and care of compound light microscopes. Observation and identification of microorganisms using microscopy. Gram staining and interpretation of Gram-positive vs. Gram-negative bacteria. Aseptic technique and sterile transfer methods. Culture media preparation and inoculation techniques. Streak plate method for isolation of bacterial colonies. Identification of unknown microorganisms using biochemical testing. Observation of bacterial growth patterns and environmental influences. Infection control simulations and clinical case applications related to nursing practice. Preferred Qualifications. Master’s degree in microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Science, or a closely related field. Prior college-level teaching experience in microbiology lecture and laboratory. Experience teaching pre-nursing, allied health, or first-generation college students preferred. Commitment to student success, retention, and preparation for nursing program admission. This position requires strong communication skills, effective classroom leadership, and a passion for preparing future healthcare professionals through high-quality science instruction.
