CCOB Mission Statement:"Working in partnership with the community, the City and County of Broomfield provides excellent services in an efficient, respectful and courteous manner to enhance and protect the environment and quality of life of Broomfield residents."The incumbent supports landscape design and planning for current and long-range initiatives under the direction of the Landscape Manager. Responsibilities include reviewing landscape plans for new development, advising the public on requirements, and assisting with construction oversight and inspections. The role also prepares plans, reports, and related documents, coordinates projects with internal teams and consultants, and collaborates across Community Development while supporting landscape initiatives for Parks and Recreation, Library, and Open Space and Trails. Essential Required Tasks/ Examples of Duties (The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job. Examples of duties are not intended to be all-inclusive or restrictive.)Assist in reviewing and analyzing development applications and provide both formal and informal feedback on landscape and open space designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, plans, and Wildfire Urban Interface requirements. Support the creation and maintenance of user-friendly guidance documents (e.g., checklists, design guides, plant lists) outlining landscape standards, submission requirements, and review processes. Participate in site visits, inspections, and ongoing monitoring of landscaping, irrigation, and open space improvements across project phases to ensure alignment with approved plans and city requirements. Attend and support pre-application, pre-construction, and other coordination meetings with city staff, developers, contractors, and external agencies. Help respond to questions, concerns, and complaints from the public regarding development-related landscaping and open space issues. Assist Code Compliance Officers in addressing landscape-related code violations and documenting findings. Support updates to landscape guidelines, design standards, and ordinances through research, drafting, and team collaboration. Assist in providing technical input for city-led capital improvement projects and coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and outside agencies as needed. Supports implementation of Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) code, including property inspections. May temporarily take on additional responsibilities in the absence of other staff. Minimum Qualifications Education. Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited college or university - required. Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited college or university - preferred. Licensed Landscape Architect in Colorado - preferred. Experience 2 years experience required in (Landscape Architecture, Urban or Park Planning), construction-related experience a plus. Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, DMV check, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. Licensure as a Landscape Architect in Colorado, either currently held or obtained within two years of hire. Regular, predictable attendance required. Work is performed at City/ County work locations with the ability to perform some duties remotely in accordance with Broomfield's remote work policy. Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects).
