Conduct compliance audits on pleadings filed in guardianship and probate estates to determine if they comply with the Texas Probate Code, Court policies and/or procedures, and other statutes. Conduct financial audits of accountings filed in guardianships and dependent probates. Review and analyze financial and other business records in connection with the audit of accountings or other pleadings. Advise and assist attorneys on policies and procedures of the Court in connection with these pleadings. For more information, please click on the link below: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reviews pleadings filed in court-supervised and dependent estates (e.g. guardianships, management trusts, and probate) to ensure they comply with the Texas Probate Code, court policies and/or procedures, and other statutes. Audits and analyzes all accountings including those on Guardianships of the Person Only with a corporate bond and those filed in compliance with Texas Probate Code sections 149 A and 489 B and maintains Excel spreadsheets. Consults with attorneys and other outside entities in resolving issues pertaining to the estate in general and pleadings filed in an estate. Conducts investigations on all transferred guardianships from other counties and jurisdictions to ensure legal compliance on all estate issues referred by the Court Investigator, Assistant Court Investigator, and other sources and on all allegations of financial exploitation in guardianships with estates. Conducts training for individuals who will be appointed Guardian of the Estate. Sets up the Bonds Tab on all new estates and makes modifications in the Odyssey System. Supervises Show Cause Process, prepares summaries of the estate with the recommended course of action for the Associate Judge, audits the required pleadings that have been timely filed to determine if the hearing can be canceled, and serves as Court Clerk at the show cause hearings. Creates statutory annual reports that indicate whether guardianships and management trusts should be continued, modified, or terminated as well as investigation reports on issues pertaining to guardianships with estates. Prepares deficiency letters on pleadings. Performs other administration functions for the department and performs special projects under specific direction of management. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Court as assigned or required. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, pre-law, political science, business, or a related field. Post-graduate degree in law, business, or accounting preferred. Minimum five (5) full-time years of work experience in the relevant areas of law. Preference for current Texas law license. Must have knowledge of the Texas Probate Code, Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, and other statutes and of the application of these laws. Good knowledge of and skills in general accounting and audit practices. Must be computer literate with intermediate proficiency level in using spreadsheet and word processing software required, such as Microsoft Office Suite. Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
