A packer performs an important function supporting the production line by setting up and operating auxiliary line equipment. This position assists the machine operator to produce a quality product and meet production throughput goals. Essential Functions: Inspect product for embossed lot number and verify all packaging is correct. Continue inspection of all packaging throughout the shift, and complete Packaging Inspection Checklist as required. Pack product into appropriate shipper and palletize all completed cases in appropriate skid pattern and numerical sequence. Produce labels as required for all shippers on assigned production lines. Install ribbons and labels on the label printers as required. Ensure proper issuance of labels to the production lines. Communicate any non-conforming situation to the Process Operator, Senior Process Operator, Production Lead-hand, Production Supervisor/ Manager and Mechanical staff as required. Maintain work area in a clean/safe manner. Report any non-conformance. Wear appropriate safety equipment as required. Any other packaging duty which may be assigned by the Production Lead-hand/ Supervisor/ Manager or designate, as required. Qualifications: High school, or equivalent, education. Knowledge about manufacturing food preferred. Able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing and have good mathematical skills. Able to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.
