This position serves as the Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) Communications and Ingestion Pathway Analyst within the Michigan State Police (MSP) EMHSD. This position serves as the recognized resource responsible for statewide coordination of REP communications planning, ingestion pathway preparedness, and public information coordination associated with commercial nuclear power plant emergencies. The position analyzes, interprets, and evaluates federal REP Program Manual guidance and develops procedures, program recommendations, and planning guidance to ensure statewide preparedness for communication coordination and ingestion pathway response activities. Responsibilities include coordination of public information planning, Joint Information Center (JIC) planning and coordination, and communication coordination among MSP/ EMHSD, state agencies, local jurisdictions, nuclear utilities, and federal partners. The position serves as the recognized resource responsible for coordinating preparedness activities within the 50-mile ingestion pathway Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) surrounding Michigan’s commercial nuclear power plants and works with state agencies responsible for agriculture, environmental monitoring, and public health to support ingestion pathway preparedness. The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service. Required Education and Experience Education. Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. Experience. Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P 11) level in state service. Alternate Education and Experience Departmental Analyst 12 Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
