Sr Designer, you’ll be accountable for and lead Owned Brand Product Design and Development for Cat & Jack Girls’ Knit Apparel, with direction from design leaders to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives utilizing your proficiency/expertise in product design and development. You will be accountable for and lead the PD&D Design and Development Processes, which includes:Maintaining a diligent approach to workload management and ensuring clear, timely communication with internal and external partners. Leading knit product research, design, and development through expertise in cut-and-sew knits, translating ideas into clear product direction and communicating guidance on materials, washes, trims, artwork, garment construction, and fit to support successful product execution. Utilizing your industry expertise to identify and forecast trends across categories, brands, businesses, and guest segments through market research and global shopping. Traveling to global markets and factories to support trend research, product development, and program execution. Mentoring Associate Designers and Designers while fostering collaboration across the broader team. You will also be expected to lead:Collaboration with design team on concept development, including color palettes, fabrics, trims, and artwork that support the overall category design vision for the collection. Brand cohesion and continuity through collaboration with peers across the division. Professional presentations featuring inspirational research and illustrations that clearly communicate design intent. Product designs that uphold the overall brand creative vision while supporting merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points. Collaboration with Technical Designers and sourcing partners to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues. Core responsibilities are described within this job description. About you: - Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or similar area, or equivalent experience - Minimum 8 years of experience - Computer design system skills including Illustrator and Photoshop - Advanced understanding of textiles, garment construction/fit or raw materials & product production - Commercial sense, market knowledge, ability to research and apply market/trend information - Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Ability to successfully work in a team environment - Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions - Knowledge of product development processes.
