Duties and Responsibilities This position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support services to DOH Orange WIC and Nutrition Services management staff. Position requires travel within Orange County. Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. The Government Operations Consultant I provides comprehensive operational and analytical support to the Program Director and Public Health Nutrition Consultants by coordinating human resources processes, maintaining accurate position descriptions and emergency contact records, and ensuring compliance with DOH requirements. Prepares and analyzes weekly, monthly, and quarterly WIC and FLWISE reports to inform leadership decisions, produces specialized reports and data queries upon request, and conducts ongoing monitoring of key program indicators such as Processing Standards. The consultant manages and updates the DOH-Orange WIC SharePoint site to ensure accessible and current program information, oversees the annual review and revision of WIC policies and procedures, and tracks staff deadlines, issuing timely reminders to senior leadership and supervisors to support efficient program operations. Maintains a clear understanding of WIC policies and procedures to conduct follow-up contacts related to referrals and missed program appointments. The position receives and routes telephone calls, often requiring interpretation and application of WIC program policies and procedures. The consultant provides backup support for client certification and the issuance of electronic benefits in accordance with DHM 150-24 and the Florida Wi. SE System Manual. Additional responsibilities include serving as backup for the call center by answering and directing calls and responding to questions regarding access to WIC program services. The role also ensures participants are appropriately referred to Department of Health services, other state programs, and relevant community agencies and organizations. Tracks due dates for staff and sends reminders to WIC senior leadership and supervisors as needed. Develops and/or prepares documents for media, State WIC Program office, DOH Orange WIC Program as directed or assigned. Maintains and updates the DOH Orange WIC SharePoint site. Coordinate outreach events internally, with external entities, and with the employees who will participate in those events. Coordinate outreach events with internal programs, external organizations, and the employees who will participate in those events. Coordinate all staff meeting arrangements, including scheduling, preparing materials, and managing monthly meetings. Assists with processing applications, scheduling interviews, in addition to other general clerical support and documentation with WIC personnel processes. Maintains the Status of HR Actions in coordination with WIC senior leadership and supervisors. Plans for and develop agendas for WIC supervisor and staff meetings in consultation with WIC senior leadership. Attends and participates in staff development and training and required in-service training sessions, as well as regularly scheduled departmental staff meetings. Prepares request for travel reimbursement and submits according to pre-established departmental procedures as needed. Maintains a courteous and cooperative working relationship with program and departmental staff, as well as community agencies and the public. Issues WIC electronic benefits to certified participants in accordance with DHM 150 24 and the Florida Wi. SE System Manual. Schedules participant and applicant appointments through the FL Wi. SE system and responds to questions regarding access to WIC services. Refers individuals to appropriate Department of Health programs, state services, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support. Demonstrates strong organizational and administrative skills by tracking staff due dates and sending timely reminders to WIC senior leadership and supervisors. Prepares documents for media, the State WIC Program Office, and the DOH-Orange WIC Program as assigned. Maintains and updates the DOH-Orange WIC SharePoint site to ensure accurate and accessible program information. Coordinates outreach events with internal programs, external organizations, and participating staff, and manages all arrangements for staff meetings, including scheduling, materials preparation, and monthly meeting logistics. Provides support with personnel processes by assisting with application processing, interview scheduling, and general clerical documentation. Maintains the Status of HR Actions in collaboration with WIC senior leadership and supervisors to support efficient workflow and compliance. Demonstrates the ability to plan and develop agendas for WIC supervisor and staff meetings in consultation with senior leadership. Participates in staff development, required in-service trainings, and regularly scheduled departmental meetings to support ongoing professional growth. Prepares and submits travel reimbursement requests in accordance with established departmental procedures. Maintains courteous and cooperative working relationships with program staff, departmental personnel, community agencies, and the public to support effective communication and service delivery. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: WIC experience in the last two years. This is an in-office position only. You must be willing to physically come into the office to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A current a Florida Department of Health (DOH) employee. Current, valid Driver's License Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment. This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
