Provide technical assistance and guidance for the design, development, and construction of mechanical systems for building and infrastructure projects. Support HVAC system design including air distribution, hydronic systems, controls, and related building systems. Assist with research, concept development, and preparation of construction documents and specifications. Perform mechanical engineering calculations (e.g., load calculations) and support system sizing and selection. Collect, compile, and analyze engineering data from drawings, field observations, and technical reports to support project execution. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines. Contribute to technical reports and presentations to support project findings and recommendations. Ensure work is delivered in alignment with WSP quality, safety, and performance standards. Who You Are. Required Qualifications. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline. 3–5 years of relevant post-education experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems. Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building mechanical systems design. Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit. Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IECC, local building codes). Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Preferred Qualifications. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward PE licensure. Experience in healthcare, commercial, higher education, or science & technology projects. Exposure to energy-efficient and sustainable building design. Experience supporting small to mid-size projects through design and construction phases. WSP Benefits:
