Long-term Special Education paraprofessionals

Dependent upon assignment, but always under direct supervision of District/ School employees, this role may be working directly in one of the following: A special education classroom A general education classroom or environment One-on-one with a student or small group of students A paraprofessional provides classroom assistance to students with disabilities and to the assigned District/ School teacher, who has ultimate responsibility for designing and implementing educational programs, activities and services. Classroom assistance provided by the paraprofessional may include assisting with: Academic needs such as Reading and/or Math Behavior needs such as helping to keep student(s) on task and/or deescalating distracting/inappropriate behaviors Personal needs of students such as lifting, holding, diapering, assistance with hand-over hand feeding, or restroom assistance.
