Develop, implement, and oversee all Child Life policies and procedures in alignment with hospital standards and regulatory requirements. Direct all Child Life programming, including strategic planning, program expansion, and performance improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, The Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory agency requirements. Manage departmental staffing matrix, scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations. Oversee educational goals and professional development for Child Life staff and interdisciplinary team members. Provide in-service education related to Child Life, creative arts therapies, child development, and psychosocial pediatric care. Serve as liaison between Child Life services, physicians, hospital administration, and interdisciplinary departments to support integrated patient care. Maintain oversight of departmental budgets, capital planning, and non-salary operational expenses. Collaborate with the hospital foundation to identify donor opportunities, develop fundraising strategies, attend fundraising events, and support philanthropic initiatives. Write and manage grants and funding proposals for special programs and services. Evaluate current pediatric healthcare trends, healing environments, and family-centered design initiatives to enhance the patient and family experience. Introduce evidence-based practices and current research into clinical operations and patient care programming. Work collaboratively with the Director of Pediatrics to strengthen psychosocial care services and align programming with organizational growth initiatives. Provide hands-on clinical support and psychosocial care to pediatric patients and families as needed. Qualifications. Education. Master’s Degree required in one of the following:Child Life. Child Development. Creative Arts Therapy (Music, Art, Movement, or related discipline)Related field. Certifications. Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) required. Professional Child Life certification required. For Creative Arts Therapy candidates:A. T. R. or applicable professional registration/certification in the candidate’s therapeutic discipline required. Experience. Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience as:Child Life Director. Child Life Manager. Child Life Leader. Child Life Specialist with significant leadership responsibilities. Demonstrated expertise in:Child development and family dynamics. Play therapy and creative arts therapy. Pediatric psychosocial care. Healing environments. Basic pediatric medicine. Budget management. Fundraising and grant development. Staff supervision and program leadership Salary Range. USD $113,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 / Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
