We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Runner. In this role, the successful candidate The Runner plays a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate transportation of medical supplies, specimens, medications, and documents within the NYULMC, PCC, and its offsite facilities. This position is crucial in maintaining operational efficiency, adherence to established procedures, and ensuring patient confidentiality. Job Responsibilities:Delivery and Collection: Collect and deliver medical specimens (blood, urine, tissue) to the laboratory. Transport x-rays, medications, supplies, and other necessary items to clinical locations and departments. Pick up and deliver patient records, test results, and other documents to designated locations. Scan and transport packages between hospital and PCC locations. Retrieve and deliver medical equipment and supplies from central supply and/or clinical engineering departments Prioritize emergency requests and sort/distribute mail in a timely manner. Assist with mailroom operations, postage, document duplication, and laminating. Answer phone calls and record requests from the clinical team. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision. Patient Interaction: Ensure adherence to patient privacy guidelines when handling specimens or delivering medications. Inform nursing staff of any delays or discrepancies in deliveries. Operational Efficiency: Maintain accurate logs and records of all deliveries and pick-ups. Document all tasks and runs to ensure proper tracking. Ensure the proper handling and transportation of items. Compliance and Safety: Follow infection control protocols when handling specimens and medical supplies. Adhere to safety guidelines for transporting hazardous materials. Report discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Must be able to speak, read, understand, and follow simple directions in English. Some motor dexterity is required. Good interpersonal skills are necessary. Excellent customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications:High School Diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
