Under general direction of Director of Finance, performs variety of professional accounting duties to maintain general accounting systems for Brown University Health. Prepares accounting/finance-related reports from financial data. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Financial Reporting — Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and internal reporting packages used by leadership. - Accounts Payable Support — Process invoices, verify documentation, and help maintain vendor records in accordance with healthcare compliance standards. - Accounts Receivable Tracking — Support billing reconciliation, payment posting, and aging report reviews. - Cost Analysis — Help analyze departmental expenses, supply utilization, and cost saving opportunities within clinical and administrative units. - Audit Preparation — Assist with documentation requests, sample testing, and compliance checks for internal and external audits. - Data Entry & Systems Work — Maintain accurate financial data in accounting software and electronic health record–linked financial systems. - Special Projects — Contribute to ad hoc analyses, dashboards, and process improvement initiatives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Accounting Coursework — Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. - Analytical Skills — Strong attention to detail, comfort with numbers, and the ability to interpret financial data. - Technical Proficiency — Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas); exposure to accounting software is a plus. - Communication Skills — Ability to clearly document work and collaborate with cross functional teams. - Interest in Healthcare — Curiosity about how finance supports clinical operations and patient care.
