Provide technical expertise in metallic Additive Manufacturing, metallurgical analysis, material processing, mechanical testing, nondestructive inspection, and related materials technologies. Establish materials laboratory procedures. Perform material related failure investigations to determine root cause and provide corrective action recommendations. Investigate and implement material related design and manufacturing process improvements. Resolve manufacturing and nonconformance issues as they relate to materials and finishes. Participate in Supplier Quality Audits for metallic processes and finishes. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Prefer degree in materials engineering. Experience with common civilian and military aerospace materials (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, paints, adhesives/sealants, etc.), manufacturing processes (machining, heat treatment, welding, non-destructive inspection, etc.), and surface finishing techniques (anodize, conversion coatings, passivation, paints, plating, cleaning, abrasive blasting, shot peening, etc.). Experience with failure investigations and materials characterization laboratory techniques. Understanding of airworthiness regulations as they pertain to Materials and Processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter able to work independently and responsively to address and close issues quickly. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
