The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex is seeking applicants for an Administrative Specialist. This position will play a key role in supporting the Human Resources operations of the institution. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Managing employee identification processes Preparing new hire packets Maintaining departmental filing systems, and processing employment-related documentation Assisting with tracking and maintaining records such as the Documentation Required Leave (DRL), Employee Gone List, Auxiliary List, and databases for contract staff. Submitting and tracking DOC and contract employee drug screenings, processing LAC drug screens and clearance letters. Coordinating Correctional Officer interviews, posting job announcements, and preparing ACA files annually Providing general administrative support by ordering office supplies, processing departmental mail, preparing memorandums, and sorting, stamping, and filing new hire paperwork. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18 A.111.
