The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Luther Luckett Correctional Complex's (LLCC) Business Office is responsible for payables, receivables, inventory/warehouse management, record retention, procurement, and other administrative tasks. The Purchasing Officer I plays a vital role in accounts and inventory. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Post deposits and reconciling accounts Assist in warehouse management Act as a backup to LLCC’s property supervisor. Act as a backup to LLCC’s Purchasing Officer. Issue correctional uniforms Maintain inventory Put in purchase request when needed. Performs accounting duties Answer phone call and letters Performs other duties as required. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in purchasing will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis. Certification with the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) will substitute for one year of the college requirement OR certification as a Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) will substitute for two years of the college requirement. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18 A.111.
