The Emergency Department Technician is a member of a multidisciplinary health team consisting of Registered Nurses and Physicians. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, this role performs a variety of patient care functions as assigned and in accordance with the legal scope of competency and within established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This individual demonstrates performance consistent with the organization's vision and strategic goals. Remains flexible to changing systems and is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits in delivery of care. Treats patients/families, co-workers, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect. Pay Range. Minimum $20.94 Midpoint $27.73 Maximum $34.54 Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements. Experience - Required: Previous experience in an emergency services or related area and/or training as an EMT with California certification. - Preferred: Acute-care experience in a hospital environment CA Phlebotomy Certification Orthopedic Tech experience EKG acquisition experience. Education - Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent. - Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field. Training - Required: Medical Technician Certification Course (passed and certified in California) maintains required certifications/trainings as applicable. - Preferred: Phlebotomy, orthopedics and EKG training. Specialized Skills - Required: Ability to computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, IDX. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner appropriate to the development stage of the patient. Fluent in written and spoken English. Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Ability to think critically; work independently; manage multiple assignments; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. - Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Vietnamese or Korean. Licensure - Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) – CA; Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) to be completed within 3 months of hire. - Preferred: Venipuncture Certificate
