Counsels subordinates on overall performance. Prepares performance evaluations of assigned subordinates for review by higher level supervising technologists, division head, and/or personnel officer. Trains and/or supervises the training of radiologic technology students and technologists in the safe and accurate performance of specific procedures which the unit is responsible for performing. Investigates and reports on employee relations problems to supervisor. Plans and organizes work in an assigned unit to ensure that all examinations are expeditiously processed and meet requisite standards of quality and safety. Contacts members of teams of Radiologic Technologists, Special Procedures and ancillary personnel for emergency duty; reviews equipment preparation and operation for cardiovascular and neuroradiology examinations. Assigns work to technologists by relating the examination work order to equipment capability; assigns technologists to operate mobile or stationary equipment. Resolves problems for technologists with respect to positioning of patients and/or modification of machine control settings to obtain desired results. Reads orders for radiographic examinations and schedules patients in accordance with protocol or physician's direction. Inspects work area and equipment, and orders needed supplies and maintenance services within specified limits. Checks machine control settings and proper use of collimators, grids, shielding and film badges for conformance with State regulations to ensure the safety of patients and health services personnel. Compiles and reports number and type of completed X-ray examinations performed by the unit.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:One year (1) of experience as a certified radiologic technologist performing a variety of radiographic and other related examinations under the supervision of a qualified radiologist. LICENSE:Certification - as a radiologic technologist issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health -AND- A radiologic technologist fluoroscopy permit - issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health. PHYSICAL CLASS: Physical Class 3 – Moderate: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
