Our Commercial Small Business department is currently seeking underwriters for a class starting in August 2026. Small Business underwriters write new small business accounts, manage a renewal book, and contribute to growth and profitability. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. The pay rate for this position is $28.85 hourly. The hourly pay rate will convert to $60,000 annually upon successful completion of training. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance. Be ready to:manage a defined book of business comprised of new business and renewal submissions in coordination with multiple associate underwritersmake decisions on new business referrals as to acceptability, including modifications to the terms, conditions and pricing of the policy as necessaryresponsible for achieving service expectations and work performance goalsbalance performance goals with profit and growth objectivescollaborate with other departments such as sales to provide the best service to agencieshandle special projects and assignments as directed. Be equipped with:excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationshipsstrong time management and decision-making skillsability to learn and understand new technologyability to analyze risks at individual strategic levelwork efficiently while following limits of authority and complying with audit criteriaability to seek out creative solutionscollaborate with team members and management to identify and solve issues being adaptable to new ideas and processesactively pursues continuing education. Bring education and experience from:bachelor’s degree. O - Rhave four or more years of insurance-related work experience and have earned an associate in insurance (AINS) designation.
