To promote a high level of environmental performance by implementing programs for natural resource specialties. Applies experience, knowledge, and training to implement natural resource measures under the direction of an Environmental Scientist. Assists the Environmental Scientist in providing technical expertise and implementing the physical work associated with various disciplines. Disciplines may include environmental and regulatory compliance, natural resource protection, mitigation, and enhancement, recreation and land use management, water quality, fisheries, aquatic weeds, vegetation management, wetlands, and/or permitting. Natural Resource Technician I Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Must be capable of conducting strenuous field work and willing to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing and capable of being trained in the safe and proper operation of equipment (including vehicles & boats) related to a particular field of specialization or assignments. Must be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively. Requires a valid driver's license. Hiring Range: $19.60 to $24.79 per hour Natural Resource Technician II Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. Two (2) years of experience in parks and recreation, land use management, natural resource field or equivalent preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Some higher education preferred. Must be capable of conducting strenuous field work and willing to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing and capable of being trained in the safe and proper operation of equipment (including vehicles & boats) related to a particular field of specialization or assignments. Ability to follow instructions, work independently and meet deadlines. Possess communication skills to deal effectively with peers and the public. Proficient in using standard office computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, email applications, and data entry. Ability to compose clear, concise, and accurate written communications through emails, basic reports and other business documents. Requires a valid driver's license. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Hiring Range: $22.31 to $28.34 per hour Natural Resource Technician III Requirements Requires minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience with a high school diploma or GED equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree from a regionally or national accredited college or university in a physical science or environmental science, or related degree is preferred. Must be capable of conducting strenuous field work and willing to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays. Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures specific to field of specialization. Proficient in using standard office computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, email applications, and data entry. Ability to navigate the internet for research and communication purposes. Able to learn specialized systems within department/organization. Proficiency in creating clear, concise, and well-structured technical documentation, including technical reports, user manuals, process guides, etc. Ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable content for various audiences. A basic understanding of summary statistics and interpretation is preferred. Must be willing and capable of being trained in the safe and proper operation of equipment related to a particular field of specialization or assignments, as well as train entry-level technicians in these practices. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines. Requires a valid driver's license. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Hiring Range: $25.28 to $32.35 per hour This position requires an in-person presence to support team and on-site responsibilities. The successful candidate will be required to work based out of our Mission Campus. The majority of work will occur in the field on a daily basis, within the Spokane River Basin and associated with Avista's Spokane River Hydroelectric Developments.
