Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Animal Caretaker Manager. Work Setting/ Work Schedule: This position requires an on-campus presence. Exposure to laboratory animals and their waste products. This is non-exempt (hourly), non-benefits eligible job. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Hours of work approximately 10 - 20 hours per week. What You Will Do: Routine cleaning of cages and living spaces. Animal handling, feeding and food preparation. Monitoring of food and liquid intake. Provision of adequate environmental enrichment. Early detection of signs of illness, injury, pregnancy, or abnormalities in physiology or behavior. Keep records of day-to-day animal care (e.g. including feeding, cleaning, health checks. What You Will Bring: Required: Ability to communicate with clarity and professionalism. Comfortable using email, Microsoft Word and Excel. Preferred, but not required: Some immunizations are preferred. Previous experience and training in animal care and husbandry and other cleaning tasks. AALAS certification at any level is preferred. Knowledge of animal care within the context of biomedical research or veterinary care. Physical Requirements:Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds. Able to push and pull carts without accommodation. Job Exempt:No. Salary Range:17.50-17.50 The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
