The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire a Site Technician II at Moraine Hills State Park for the Office of Land Management. This position will operate a truck and trailer with a total GCWR of 26,001 or more pounds; operate tractors, batwing mowers, front end loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, backhoe and other equipment for site construction projects, manage hunter check-in stations, plow and shovel snow, clean and disinfect shower building and restrooms, and perform site lock down and security checks. Moraine Hills State Park is a recreational paradise in northeast Illinois. The waters and wetlands of Moraine Hills are home to abundant wildlife, more than 200 species of birds have been identified at the park. It is a populat place for cyclists, hiking, sking and fishing. Essential Functions Under direct supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of equipment used in the operation of the park at Moraine Hill/ Volo Bog. Maintains tree removal throughout the Region 2 parks. Monitors and repairs site equipment and facilities. Participates in providing safety and security of the site, site property, employees, and the visiting public. Participates in the Firearm Deer Season. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing. Two (2) years of experience following written and oral instructions. One (1) year of experience informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations. One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation. One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping. Requires ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds. Requires ability to walk over rough and broken terrain. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
