Labor work in a wide variety of maintenance and projects. - - Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. - - Additional compensation based on licensure. Essential Functions Note: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Operate grounds maintenance tools and equipment such as weed trimmers, mowers, tractors, shovels, edgers, blowers, chain saws, hedge clippers and hand tools. Help maintain the parks in a clean safe environment, pick up trash, assist in minor irrigation repairs, and small construction projects as required. Operates a pick-up truck, van and small utility vehicles. Transport and deliver supplies, materials and tools as needed. Mow grass, trim weeds, pick up trash, empty trash containers, assist in maintaining soccer fields, softball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, jogging trails, exercise stations, camp grounds and boat launch sites as necessary. May be required to clean restroom facilities depending on park location. Lays sod, spreads seed, hay, fertilizer, or other materials in landscaping. Cuts weeds, trees, and other vegetation and trims hedges/plants. Rakes and cleans assigned areas. Waters plants and flowers as required. Performs landscape operations such as planting and maintaining landscape materials, planted beds, trim trees and shrubs, fertilize plant materials and grass. Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary. Additional Duties:In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. and six (6) months experience in the use, operation and care of grounds maintenance tools and equipment. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform physically demanding job duties, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Ability to read and write. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Additional Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, early morning and late afternoon/evening shifts due to events. All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings. Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
