Keep Alaska Moving! Engineering Assistant 3: $44.49 Hourly/ OT Eligible. Engineering Associate: $44.49 Hourly/ OT Eligible. Engineer/ Architect 1: $47.51 Hourly/ OT Eligible. What you will be doing:This position works on a diverse Project Delivery Team to deliver important transportation projects for local communities and statewide transportation networks, with the opportunity to work on projects from Valdez to Prudhoe Bay, and everything in between. This individual will work as a lead designer in developing projects from simple concepts to bid-ready plans and specifications. They will coordinate with support resources such as geotechnical engineers, hydraulic engineers, environmental staff, right-of-way and utility specialists, and many others to ensure a complete and quality product. Special Note:A valid Driver's License is required for all levels of this position. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required for the Engineer/ Architect 1 level. To view the general description and example of duties for positions please go to the following link: Alaska/classspecs Minimum Qualifications Engineering Assistant 3:Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET. AND - Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere. Or:A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET. AND - An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination. AND - Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere. Substitutions:Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering, architecture, or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering, architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree. Graduate study in engineering or architecture may be substituted for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month). Engineering Associate: Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere. Substitution:ABET accredited college or technical school courses in engineering, architecture, land surveying or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for the non-specific required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month). A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET may substitute for four years of the non-specific required experience. Engineer/ Architect 1:Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect. Note: Positions in this class require professional registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position. Special Note:Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
